Single-storey extension in Spalding

Another extension in Spalding, all the way from digging the footings to nailing on the last bit of skirting board.

What we did

• Dug and poured the footings
• Built the extension in brick and block to match the house
• Built the side wall tight against the boundary fence, working overhand from the inside
• Roofed, plastered and finished inside, down to the skirting boards

The details

There was no room to work from the neighbour’s side, so the wall along the boundary was built tight against the fence from the inside, laying the bricks overhand. It’s slower and takes more care, but it means the extension uses every bit of the available width.

We did every stage ourselves, from the footings to the finishing carpentry, with windows, plumbing and electrics by the local firms we work with regularly.
